Valhalla
03:14
|
|||
follow where the quiet voices lead you
close your eyes and they will know the way
watch for where the broken people need you
and longing not to go will come to stay
rise and breathe the air that's all around you
once a day works wonders for your health
find the ones who opened up and found you
and lead them down the road to lose yourself
such risings and fallings inside you
come dancing like la la la la
my mother my father I know you
I'm going to Valhalla
marvel at the girl who kneels before you
fall before her kneeling further still
laughing with the children who adore you
empty out your heart to get your fill
like cold rushing waters inside you
come spinning like la la la la
my mother my father I know you
I'm going to Valhalla
sing the song of joy that's born within you
drawing near to those who've done the same
welcoming the end as you begin to
fade into the light from which you came
such colors and flashings inside you
come singing like la la la la
my mother my father I know you
I'll see you in Valhalla

That Was Before
03:20
|
|||
heaven was so close in every touch
and how he needed her and loved her so much
but that was before
they don't feel it anymore
love was all there was, was all there was
and how she held him so tightly just because
but that was before
they don't feel it anymore
time brings the day
time takes it away
the symphonies that love implies were all around like lullabies
like happiness eternalized with a feeling that love never dies
oh it never dies
no it never dies
but that was before
they don't feel it anymore

Leaving
02:48
|
|||
I know that you're leaving this time
I can see by the look in your eyes that you're going
and I don't know what to make of it now that you're breaking it
but I know that you're leaving this time
I know that you're going away
oh how many times can I make you say it
I never believed you but now I can see
you are finally going away
oh when it's time to go
you can't stay where you don't fit anymore
I see that you're leaving me now
oh what a feeling like how it must feel
to be left as a child, so innocent and wild
I see that you're leaving me now
and it doesn't feel good anymore
now that I know that you'll walk out the door
and then you'll be gone as the world moves on
and it doesn't feel good anymore
oh when it's time to go
you can't stay where you don't fit anymore
oh when it's time to leave
you can't take what was never yours to keep
and the river don't change the tide
it just cuts through the beach like a knife
and I can't change you wanting to go
but that don't change the things that I know
I know that you're leaving this time
I can see by the look in your eyes that you're going
and I don't know what to make of it now that you're taking it
but I know that you're leaving this time

Ocean
03:48
|
|||
ocean, bleed for me
I need to be relieved
ocean, breathe again
now is when I need to believe
and push on out from the shore
waiting through the night
drowning in the light
of something so alive and glowing right behind the door
lover, sing for me
celebrate the new breaking day
lover, quiet now
the music somehow scares my oceans away
and sends me back to the shore
waiting through the night
drowning in the light
of something so alive and glowing right behind the door
open sailing, free as anything
just the windy waves and me
I'm going home again
like I've never been
oh, my lord, and I can't wait to be
a million miles from the shore
waiting through the night
drowning in the light
of something so alive and glowing right behind the door

Never Been to Memphis
03:28
|
|||
I've never been to Memphis and I don't wanna go
there's a train that leaves tomorrow but I'll be staying home
I like it here just fine
when the people came on Sunday they all got up and sang
they were asking for forgiveness but I just wanted rain
to wash me clean again
there's a feeling I was feeling when
we stood out on the banks
we were looking out at the frozen stars
and wondering who to thank
I had a friend named Jackie Robbins
went to a bar and picked a fight
with an old man who was laughing as he was punching out Jack's lights
he said he had it coming
but if you ever saw the fog come in on the San Francisco bay
you watched it coming in and then you watched it roll away
it's hard to say what's coming
there's a feeling we were feeling when
the old folks sat down and drank
they were talking all about the days they'd seen
and wondering who to thank
oh my, it's a long time
to find your way back home
but oh, take it slowly, slowly
I went downtown and saw the buildings reaching up to touch the sky
I got that funny feeling I was never gonna die
it's strange to feel that way
but if you read it in the bible that your ship was coming in
if you went out to the harbor, now if you're waiting there again
and time keeps rolling on
there's a feeling you were feeling when
we stood out on the banks
we were looking out at the frozen stars
and wondering who to thank

One Day My Soul
03:23
|
|||
down by the river we were watching the clouds
you were in the water
someone was singing, I was laughing out loud
then it started raining
the rain came down it was such a lovely sound
the rain upon the water
getting so wet, there was no place to go
down by the river
one day your soul will rise up to
burst like a cloud inside of you
one day my soul will rise up free
and break like a cloud inside of me
we took a vacation from the cities and the lights
out on the highway
it was too cold for sleeping when we stopped for the night
so we built a fire
the flames rose high in the cold December sky
something was humming
something so good and something so right
out on the highway
one day your soul will rise up to
burst like a cloud inside of you
one day my soul will rise up free
and break like a cloud inside of me
